PGA athletes shine at the Australian Gymnastics Championships

Senior International

At only 15 years old, Olena’s first season as a Senior International athlete and has seen her compete alongside many of her idols, including Olympic athletes.

Olena’s trip to the Gold Coast for the Australian National Gymnastics Championships was busier than most, having also been selected to represent Australia at the Oceania Continental Championships.

We are incredibly proud of Olena, who has worked hard to deliver some very strong routines this season.

In March, Olena flew to Germany to represent Australia at the DB Pokal Challenge in Stuttgart, with her team bringing home Bronze for Australia. On her return, she dusted off the jet lag to qualify for the Western Australian Gymnastics Championships, going on to place 1st on Beam, 1st on Vault, 2nd on Bars, 2nd on Floor and 1st All Around.

We are also extremely proud of PGA senior coach Dhana Antulov and Katherine Rogers, who have supported Len on her gymnastics journey. Dhana was also selected as Australian team coach, and travelled to Stuttgart and the Gold Coast with Olena.

Future International

PGA athletes Ursula Sadlo and Summa Hill joined Vital Gymnastics’ Emma Morris as WA Gymnastics Future International team.

Ursula placed 2nd on Bars, 3rd on Floor, and 1st AA making her our Future International Australian Champion for 2022.

Summa placed 2nd on Floor, 3rd on Vault, 6th on Beam, 6th on Bars and 4th AA.

Together the girls made up two of three places on WA’s Future International team. As a team of only 3, very score counted for the team competition and the girls smashed it by more than 4 clear points to bring home Gold for WA - amazing job!

Level 10

PGA’s Hannah Tarzan and Chloe Stump joined four other WA athletes to compete Level 10.

Hannah placed 2nd on Floor, 2nd on Beam, 2nd on Bars, 5th on Vault and 1st AA, making her our Level 10 Australian Champion. Hannah achieved the highest score across all age divisions in the National Levels stream.

Chloe placed 3rd on Floor, 5th on Beam and 3rd AA, bring home a bronze medal for WA.

The Level 10 team all delivered strong performances, bringing home another team gold for WA - well done to all the athletes and to PGA’s Dhana Antulov and Katherine Rogers, who were selected as WA’s team coaches.

Based on their performances at Nationals and consistent high achievement thorough the 2022 competition season, both Hannah and Chloe have been selected to represent Australia at the Friendship Classic in Queensland this October - well done girls!

Level 9

Alex joined the Level 9 Open & 15 and under team to represent WA.

This is Alex’s second Australian Championships, having competed in the WA Level 8 team at the last event.

Following an amazing competition season this year, Alex placed 1st on Beam, 4th on Bars, 4th on Vault and 1st AA, making her our Level 9 Australian Champion!

Level 8

PGA’s Indigo, Addison, Jasmin and Amber all competed in the under15 age division. Traveling with the girls was PGA senior coach Alicia Hayes, who was selected as WA team coach.

The girls all delivered beautiful quality routines, and we are incredibly proud of them all.

Special mention to Addi. This year was Addi’s first year competing at Nationals, and she placed 4th on Floor, 5th on Bars and 2nd AA, bringing home the Silver Medal.

The 2022 competition season marks PGA’s first full year as a not-for-profit gymnastics academy. It was our dream to be able to continue to support some of Western Australia’s most talented gymnasts, offering a high-quality gymnastics program with high-performance coaches and exceptional training environment. We could not be prouder of that we have achieved. We would like to thank everyone that has contributed to our success, including our parent-run board and committee, our training and athlete support partners, and of course our fabulous coaching team.

We are also very grateful to the generous support of our sponsors. Thank you to City Toyota for providing our athletes with a mini-bus to shuttle them between school and training each morning and afternoon, and making the program inclusive and accessible for athletes from all over Perth. Thank you also to BDO, for supporting special training programs and coaches.

A huge shout out to the many other partners that continue to support and take care of our girls, including Jo Norcott and Ascend Physiotherapy, and Envision Medical Imaging. It takes a village and we are so thankful for your ongoing support.
